Victoria as a whole faired well. No power losses or flooded streets, but I live in Fairfield with lots of old houses around me. There are three in my block alone that were never updated with storm drains.
For some, sump pumps were pumping.

The North Shore mtns are the big winners with the great snowfalls over the past couple of days - Grouse with 244 cm and Cypress with 234. Cypress' website says it received a foot of snow yesterday. My youngest boarded Grouse most of the weekend... and apparently needs a new board. This is NOT an inexpensive sport.
Cheri, Whistler has a decent base. The snow-filled weather has just missed it, but one of these days very soon Whistler will be reporting consecutive days of feet of snow. Whistler is great fun, have a good time.

Marko, we did have a white Christmas in the Vancouver area! A couple of inches on Bowen Isl, took the 1500 ferry in to West Vancouver for a family dinner and there was slush on the highway. Higher elevations and the Fraser Valley received more.
A white Xmas is fairly unusual for us - nice to see - and it's been snowing/slushing pretty well since.
When do you leave for Big White?

We have been up at Big White and Silver Star at least 6 times since mid December, and tomorrow again. The gang says they had the best day ever last friday. You are in for a treat.
It just keeps on snowing here.

Marko, glad you and the fam had a good time. Yes, the local Vancouver mountains (Cypress and Grouse) as well as Mt. Washington on Vancouver Island have been the big winners in snowfall this year.
Soooo, you're planning for the Kootenays next year, right? Get that older son to move, lots of Aussies there as well, I hear.
