Snowing in Toronto
At 5 o'clock on Sunday it is snowing in Toronto. On Friday at 5 pm, it was 17 degrees (about 60 F).
Nothing makes sense anymore. BAK |
Yes, I can't believe it! When I left my office around 5:30 on Friday afternoon, it was actually 19 degrees according to the gauge in my car. Yesterday, I noticed that there are lot of small bulbs starting to sprout in the garden and snowdrops are blooming. So I guess spring is coming, just not happening as fast I would like to see it!

It's still March. What do you expect? Real spring will come...eventually.

Measnwhile here in Edmonton it was warm (11C) but windy today (Sunday). The snow that has been with us all winter is melting so fast that some of the residential side roads have transformed into lakes!! (main roads are clear and dry though).
I wonder if it is maple syrup season in Quebec (and Ontario??) yet?? |
Yup - we noticed yesterday that our daffodil bulbs are starting to peek above the ground, and the first thing we said to each other was "Oh-oh. It's March. They're going to freeze their poor little heads off." Tonight it's not all that cold, but it's been snowing on and off all evening. We just came home from a concert and walked through slush up to the front door. Yuck!

After years of trying to convinve Americans that we're not a bunch of snow-bound igloo dwellers, the Blue Jays played their very first game in the 1970's, televised live across North America. It started to snow.
Then the announce says "in the VIP box we have have Bill Davis, Premier of Ontario!" Boos all around. Then the chant starts up... louder and louder.. "we want beer! we want beer! we want beer!..." We can't do anything about the weather, but at least they serve beer at baseball games now. |
