Skiing in April?

Our school is scheduling a spring break for April 2006. I am curious if skiing is still available in Whistler area? I have checked Vancouver's averages for weather and it has a high in the fifties. Is this the same for the ski area?
Any help thanks.

Yes there is skiing in Whistler in April. Is your break early or late April? If it's too late the snow will probably not be great, although it might be all right at the higher elevations. The temperatures in Whistler are usually a few degrees cooler than in Vancouver.

Taggie, The break will be around April 9th time period. I am looking ahead because we use airline miles and pts. This has to be planned about 1 year in advance. I am trying to see what our options would be for a ski trip. Kids learned this past christmas break in Snowshoe WV and really enjoyed it. I would rather not travel at christmas though.. too crazy!

The first part of April is usually a very good time to visit, and is really popular. The World Ski & Snowboard festival is on this year from April 9 - 17 so there will be lots going on - it will probably be on around the same dates for next year. If you can reserve your accomodation that far in advance it would be a fun time to be in Whistler.

While the spring ski season is great in the Alberta areas mentioned, it's usually considerably warmer in Whistler, plus you have lots more activities closer at hand.
