Shopping in Toronto
 

Hi,
We will be visiting Toronto in late August. We have been there before, but I am looking for some unique shopping places. I have been to the Eaton Centre and to a lot of the shops in Yorkville. I like both, but I am looking for more of an area with different items. For example, a place like Chinatown and Soho in NYC. Also, does anyone know of an area that sells knock off purses and watches? Are there any "cool" flea markets with fun jewelry and unique items? Thank You!

The last raid of fraudulent violators of copyright, trademark and patent products took place north of Toronto, in, I believe, Markham.

For honest merchants offering products that they might have been involved in designing themselves, try West Queen Street West -- the stretch of Queen Street West running from Spadina west to Bathurst and beyond for a few more blocks.

And downtown Chinatown --Spadina north of Dundas, has lots of interesting stores, including the Kensington Market area.

For furniture -- try King Street East, east of Church for a few blocks.

I see so many fake handbags here in Toronto. But I still dont know where i can find them. I think i might try going to Chinatown this summer to see what it has to offer. Please share any information regarding where i can find handbags in the toronto.

Kensington Market would seem to be your best bet, they seem to have a lot of other cheap, flea market kinda stuff so there is probably places selling knock-offs.

No knock-offs in Kensington, just vegetables, south american food, excellent ice cream, and lots of retro used clothing.

Only knockoffs in China town are recent movies on DVD.

Queen St. W of Spadina has local designers, interesting furniture and gallerys all the way to Dufferin. Queen St. E. of Spadina has the Gap etc.

Cool jewelry might be found on King St. E. of Church, at Arts on King.

Chinatown on Spadina between Queen and College has super cheap clothing and mostly Asian restaurants. Dundas between Spadina and University has Chinese restaurants and the Art Gallery.

The Danforth has many shops (some unique), Greek restaurants, and vegetables.

I had the most amazing ice cream in Kensington Market yesterday - it was anise with black pepper. Husband had chocolate with ginger, very hot ginger. Fantastic!

Toronto is supposed to be overrun with knock off goods - they had a few items on City TV about it.

Eglinton Ave (b/w Allen Road and Avenue Road) mid - high end stores and restaurants. Not a tourist area at all but great place for stores et al.

Yonge Street really anywhere but similar stores to above would be St Clair to Lawrence

Yorkdale Mall - big mall, great shopping and variety of stores (chains and small scale stores)

Hi Jallard? Will you be driving a car? If so, here's something really different, Pacific Mall, the largest indoor Chinese mall in North America http://www.pacificmalltoronto.com/en/generalinfo/ - you'll find driving directions on the website, but it's a good 40 minutes drive from the Eaton Centre. Awesome mall with groceries, clothing, cell phones, "cheap" DVDs, purses, karaoke bars, pottery and awesome food courts. Be careful in the parking lot - lots of bad driving!!!

I haven't been there but it is reputed to have excellent prices on designer clothes.
