Seeking Suggestions on Itinerary for a Sept. 2014 Visit to the Maritimes

Jump to last reply

Two couples in our 70's plan on spending 10 days driving/traveling NS and PEI in early September, with arrival/departure in & out of Halifax (two days are for travel). We enjoy scenery, trolley & boat tours, some walking and visiting small villages, towns, and museums. We will definitely take advantage of the scenic drives, however, don't want to spend more than 2 or 3 hours driving from point A to point B in a day. Below is our very rough proposed itinerary. We are planning on mixing our accommodations among hotels & small inns or B & B's (prices around $90-$125/night)
Day 1 (arrival) - drive to Truro (overnight) (want to see the tides)
Day 2 - drive to Charlottetown (overnight 2 nights)
Day 3 - drive Confederation Bridge back to Truro or anywhere (overnight)

Days 7, and 8 we plan on staying in Halifax
Day 9 stay near airport for early departure

I would appreciate your assistance on days 4, 5, and 6
We were thinking possibly
Truro to Digby (0vernight ?)
Digby to Chester area???? (want to visit Peggy's Cove, Lunenburg/St. Margaret's
Bay/Mahone Bay

then continue on to Halifax

I have travel guides on the Maritimes, but would greatly appreciate any comments and suggestions you could provide, as well as recommendations on accommodations, places to visit, restaurants, etc.
Thanks so much!
