Seaplane from Victoria to Vancouver airport

If you have had the experience of taking a seaplane from Victoria harbor to Vancouver airport would like to hear about it. Worth it, fun, scary???? Travel time of 30 minutes to airport on last day of vacation is a real plus. Thanks.

The seaplane doesn't go to the airport it goes to Vancouver harbour which is downtown. If you want to fly to Vancouver airport you have to get a plane from Victoria airport.

Thanks, the website has Victoria harbor to airport. Maybe they offer additional transportation. Will check but if not direct will probably use PC Bus and ferry and then perhaps Skytrain when back In Vancouver.

violetduck, harbour air flies float planes from the inner harbour in victoria to both vancouver (coal harbour) and YVR. they land on the river near the south terminal and shuttle you to the main terminal. fares to YVR are less than those to downtown (coal harbour). you are also allowed to carry more weight (50# vs 25#).

the advantage is that you are @ YVR in less time than it would take to get to YYJ from downtown victoria !

cheers

ps there are often late in the week internet specials as well as advance internet deals)

violetduck, i fly back and forth almost every month. they are stunning flights and always different. my mom was a terrible flyer. once she and my dad neede to get to YVR and i couldn't drive them. i suggested the float plane. my mom loved it and asked the pilot ( she rode in the co pilot's seat) if she couldn't fly all the way across country in a float plane.

the staff are always great and helpful
cheers

AndrewD- thanks again for very helpful information. Does Kenmore air fly from Victoria harbor to YVR?Do you have any suggestions for day trips from Victoria. We will consider renting a car for one day. Sidney has been suggested in another one of my posts and I am reading about some other places in my guidebook. A friend tells me we should be going to Banff area from Vancouver instead of Victoria. Any thoughts on that? Appreciate your help.

violetduck, only harbour air flies from victoria harbour to yvr. imo the best day trip from victoria would be botanical beach provincial park and the avatar grove of ancient trees, both near port renfrew on the west coast. check the tide table for port renfrew you want to arrive for a low , low tide. i was up weekend before last the morning low tide was less than one metre. it's a pretty two hour drive from victoria . past sooke you are in forest or on the coast. there a nice pub in port renfrew w/ a great patio overlooking the government wharf.

you could also check the bc ferries website and see what kind of schedule you can put together for a cruise around the stunning gulf islands ,. do it as a foot passenger so you don't have to worry about getting a car on the ferry

i can't recall where you are from, but i find the parks here sometimes a bit over commercialized. while banff NP has stunning vistas and great hiking, the townsite is really a daytrip shopping excursion for people from calgary and packed w/ cars. a far cry from some of the california and rocky my NP's in the USA

cheers
