Is there anything to do in Sarnia? We are stopping there on a road trip. Also, if anyone could recommend a good hotel or campground there it would be greatly appreciated!

Where are you coming from. How much time do you have.

I assume you are coming from Chicago. If you stay at the Holiday Inn or Best Western near the bridge, the walkway travelling either way will take you to a park. One park, Centennial Park is on the river and is nicefor walking and depending on the date there may be some event happening there. The other direction will take you under the bridge to a park with a great beach.

Yes, I am from the Chicago area. Thanks for your help! We will look into the hotels you suggested. The park would be perfect, as we are travelling with our 5 year old daughter.

If you have time and are interested in a great campground there is a beautiful provincial park called the Pinery Provincial Park about 40 minutes from Sarnia with great beaches, hiking, canoeing etc. If you have time it would be a great stop. It is off the 402 highway.

I agree about the Holiday Inn. It is right off the first exit on the 402 just by the Bluewater bridge. It was just expanded and has a brand new section which is very nice. The restaurant there is "Bridges" excellent food but a bit stuffy for a five year old. There is a pool there. The Holiday Inn is located on Venetian Blvd. When exiting the parking lot turn left which will take you under the Bluewater Bridge. There you will find the best chip truck on earth (Alberts) and a couple others that aren't bad as well. "Under the bridge" is a popular summer hang out for families. There is a little playground there and you can sit and watch the boats go by. There is a walking/biking trail that leads from the bridge to Canatara Park. Your 5 year old will love this park. There is an animal farm where children can pet baby goats, feed pigs, see the ponies, feed the ducks etc. The farm is open every day until about 7:00 pm. The park itself closes to cars at 10 pm. There is a wonderful beach at Canatara and another chip truck! There are also BBQs and a huge playground/climber.

You can drive your car and park at both the park and the bridge.

If you go the opposite way on Venetian Blvd. you will run into Exmouth street which you can follow and find the usual fast food joints such as McDonalds, Dairy Queen, Boston Pizza. Also London Road between Murphy and Modeland is a fast food mecca.
The Best Western is a nice hotel and probably cheaper than the Holiday Inn. The Harbourfront Inn is also nice. The Drawbrige Inn is older but nice as well.

Yes chips at the bridge is one of the most favorite things to do when visiting.
