Sandbanks with the kids

I am looking into taking my 2 young children to the Picton area for a long summer weekend to enjoy Sandbanks.

Any suggestions on child-friendly, clean nice accomodations?

Thanks.

Our kids always enjoyed our stays at the Isaiah Tubbs Resort. We stayed in the Lodges right by the lake ( our kids loved the lofts) but you can book the main resort by the pool and there are cottages for longer stays. The restaurant offers a large buffet breakfast. Dinner on the veranda as well.

Ps Hit the actual Sandbanks in the morning or evening it can be HOT scaling the cliffs in the mid-day sun.

We went into Isaiah Tubbs to check it out a couple of years back while in Picton and I hate to sound negative but - we thought it was really tired and even dirty (especially for the prices they charge). Unfortunately, they have a monopoly there, being the only resort near Sandbanks with a pool, etc. Friends of ours stayed there 2 or 3 summers back and actually checked out after one night and went to some motel in Belleville.

Does any one know of any other place that may be suitable for kids?

Gee, I'm really sorry to hear that, we stayed there many times but the last time was about 5 years ago. Except for camping in the Park, there were few options for young families then and it appears there is even less now that the County is dotted Inns and B & B's to attract visitors 'doing' antiques and wine tours.

Someone suggested the Devonshire on the Lake. Has anyone stayed there?
