Looking for a cabin to rent by Lake Edith
Hi, It is my mom's 50th birthday at the end of Aug. and i know that she would LOVE to spend it in the mountains. I was wondering if anyone knows if it possible to rent a cabin on Lake Edith. I could not find any info on the internet!
Thanks, i know she would be in heaven as it is simply beautiful around Lake Edith.

I am not sure, if you mean the small lake at the end of Edith Cavell Road.
There is no cabin near by, but hikers can stay in a hostel.
You can also stay in the Tonquin Valley Backcountry Lodge, which can be reached from the end of Edith Cavell Road.
For further information
www.tonquinvalley.com
There also some other alpine huts and backcountry lodges within Jasper NP.

Lodge reservations can be made by calling:
Tonquin Valley Pack Trips

>>>I must confess Lake Edith is a new one on me. Where is it?<<<
It was new to me too. I looked up a hard copy map of Jasper. I found a small lake by that name immediately east of Jasper townsite. It's a short distance north of Jasper Park Lodge, east of Hwy #16, and east of the point at which you turn off to get onto Maligne Road.
Oh yes, it shows up on this electronic map too, just north of Annette Lake:
http://www.explorejasper.com/maps/maparea.htm
Parks Canada mentions Lake Edith on this page:
http://www.pc.gc.ca/docs/v-g/jasper/plan/plan5-85_e.asp
It states that, while cottages were built there as part of an artist's colony in the 1920's, no additional land at Lake Edith will be made available for the building of private cottages.

Score one for Judy. I should have known where it was, having eaten lunch one day a few years ago at the picnic ground right by it.
I had seen so much that trip that it failed to register.
Now, I am curious again. Which is good for us old codgers.

Thanks everyone!
Lake Edith is just outside of Jasper, and has a number of Cabins on it. I was wondering if anyone knows if you can rent a cabin or if there is even a B&B on the lake? I don't think so, but you never know who might know something helpful

OP is from 2005. However, since I had already typed the following before I noticed that, I'll submit it anyway, in case it's helpful to someone along the way.
It is possible that some of the Lake Edith cabin owners may rent out their cottages, however it is illegal, in contravention with their national park leases. I'm sure it does happen, but it's likely very hush-hush, through a "friend of a friend" kind-of-thing.
There are no B&Bs at Lake Edith either. For B&Bs and private home accommodations in Jasper, try www.stayinjasper.com . There are none in the park that offer a full, hot breakfast - only continental, at about a dozen homes (of the 120+ that are licensed as "private home accommodation"). Most don't offer breakfast at all, just accommodation.
