Romantic southern Ontario getaway suggestions?
Dh and I are looking to get away from the kids for a weekend - will be the first time in almost 15 years we've been away from them for a night (sad!!!)
Does anyone have any suggestions as to where we should look at going? I'd prefer Southern Ontario - we live in the kitchener area. We both like to golf and are not big on a spa getaway. Don't mind if it's a resort or just a really nice hotel with a golf course nearby.

The Huntsville area is nice...when are you planning on going? How far do you want to drive? You cld stay @ Delta Grandview Inn(condos) or Deerhurst. Grandview has a small nine hole course. But, across the road (highway 60) you have the Mark O'Meara designed Grandview course. I think that it may be a Club Link course but if you are staying @ Grandview I think you can play there. That's the way to used to be. If you stay @ Deerhurst you will have 2 choices: The Lakeside course or the Highlands course. Highlands is far superior. Lakesdie is really slow b/c it attracts a lot of "non golfers".
Closer to home, Niagara-on-the-Lake would also be great for a romantic getaway. The NOTL golf course is beautiful. You cld stay @ Queen's Landing & stroll over to the golf course. At night, you have The Shaw Festival. Or, you cld do an afternoon show.

There are five new championship courses in the Niagara Falls area... beautiful and challenging, as well as plenty of accomodations... Niagara on the Lake or the Fallsview Casino offer Luxury accomodations... you won't be lacking for Golf or fun things to do...

How about your nearby neighbor, Stratford? I don't golf so can't attest to the quality of the courses here but there are a couple in town and others in St Marys, Mitchell, etc.
It's a beautiful, walkable town with World-Class dining and theatre options. And how about a romantic stroll around the lake taking in the wonderful gardens and enjoying the swans?
There are some nice hotel options here - but the most romantic options would probably be found in one of our boutique Bed & Breakfast establishments.
May's a good time to visit Stratford as the theatre is underway but the town not inundated yet at that time of year.
