Rockwater Secret Cove Resort ?

Anybody been to this place north of Vancouver BC?
On Trip Advisor I see wildly different opinions about it. The website looks good, but I'm sure it's not the whole story. Looking for a balanced opinion, not a lot of ranting...mostly it was about the service being bad.
How far is it (driving) from Vancouver airport?

An hour from YVR to Horseshoe Bay, however long waiting for the Ferry, a 45 minute Ferry ride and about the same drive to Rockwater.

I stayed there in the old days-never liked the location too restricted just some buildings thrown up along a cliff face and too far from anywhere/not close enough to a beach. The newer cabins are fine but you're still cut off-there is no way to access the water just bare rock everywhere-that's why it's called Rockwater-rock first water in the distance.

Details of management malfeasance aside you can do a lot better with some of the many B&B's on the Lower Sunshine Coast.

That odd website is really offputting-all those testimonials from past wage-slaves are like nothing I've ever seen.

Go back! Things have changed. We just went this weekend. Restaurant dining/kitchen area totally upgraded, spa was very good value, and the tenthouses are amazing. Best two days I have had in a long time - we really did not want to leave. The chef turned out wonderful meals 3 seatings in a row for us, and I heard other diners say the same. Everyone there seemed happy to be working and it was a friendly group - I didn't hear/see anything otherwise. The views are truly west coast, which does happen to be mostly rocky shorelines. There's a kayak launching area, and great hikes are close by. Yes, you might have to wait for a ferry and it's a 45 minute ferry ride (where you can snack, shop, read, snooze) and an easy going one-highway drive up to Secret Cove, where you'll leave everything behind the minute you park your car.
