Road Trip to Montreal from Chicago

Would love recommendations for the 1st leg of our road trip with our 8yr old daughter. We plan to stop in Toronto (2 days) with a day trip Niagra Falls. Followed by a (2-3) day stay in Montreal. Our second leg of the trip is already planned to visit with friends in NY. Thank you

To make the smartest use of your travel, consider a small change to your plan...

If you are coming across I-90, make your first stop Niagara Falls... You can stay the night, charge your batteries and get an early AM start by visiting Maid of the Mist, and Cave of the Winds...
Another star attraction is Whirlpool JetBoats... Those three are must see...

Then in the late afternoon, head up to Toronto for dinner and check-in at your TO hotel...

Toronto is a great walking city and also has the distinction of being the most culturally diverse population in the world... Besides the tower and water activities, consider Chinatown, Greektown, the Beaches, Kensington Market, the Entertainment district, Queen St W., and Yonge St as great areas to explore...

More than enough for two full days...

Then off to Montreal...

The previous reply is spot-on. The drive to Montreal from Toronto is about 5.5 hours. If you have time, try using the Parkway around Kingston and Gananoque. It is a very scenic route. You will find lots to do in Montreal.
