Restaurants near Skydome (Rogers Center)?
Can anybody suggest good restaurants within easy walking distance of the Skydome? We will be staying at the Marriott Renaissance right there, with elderly but sprite parents.
Looking for NON-CHAIN (not the Hard Rock) restaurants. Last year I think we ate at someplace that had the word "Tomato" in it and it was great.
Thanks!

When youleave the hotel, you can walk north on Blue jay Way (which changes its name to Peter Street)
A block up is Sen5es (the 5 is on purpose) int he Soho Metrolplitan Hotel. It's one of Toronto's most expensive restaurants.
More or less across thestreet is Wayne Gretsky's sports bar.
Walk another block north and you are at King Street. turn right / east / toward the downtown office towers, and there's an entire block of good to very good, to really very good restaurants, including The Red Tomato.
My favorite is Kit Kat, Italian - Canadian.
Walk north anothr block, to Adelaide, and you get to Tutti Matti (turn left, away from downtown, and it is just down the road a little way)
A couple of years ago a group of Fodor Torontonians ate there. I don't know if the same chef was there, then, but it was really good.

Just wanted to post back. My parents ended up going alone to the Yankees game and had dinner at the Red Tomato. My (rather picky) mom reported taht it was one of the most enjoyable meals they've had traveling. Thank you!!!

I would recommend The Queen Mother on Queen Street. If you really liked The Red Tomato last time, why not try the owner's other restaurant, just upstairs from the Tomato, called Fred's Not Here. It's one of my favourites. For something casual, try Peter Pan, also on Queen Street.

Oh good, Wednesday was lovely. To my now complete utter shame, I "danced" at the opening ceremonies of the Dome and when they opened the roof (to prove it would open as there were the usual naysayers who said it wouldn't work) it poured! I'm saving the costume we wore to make any grandchildren I might have laugh when I'm old and gray(er)!
