Restaurant recommendations in the Plateau area, Montreal
We're staying in the Plateau area late September and looking for recommendations for a weekend - Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner any ideas? Any type of cuisine and we don't mind paying $$ for good food :-) especially in the evenings. BTW on the Saturday night we're planning on going to the Comedy Nest so any recommendations nearby will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |
Restaurants come and go in Montreal, but you can just walk down several streets in the plateau area, look in the windows at the food ont he plates at the nearest tables, look at menus outside, and be almost guaranteed a great meal.
It's bveen a couple of years sinece I lived in Montreal, so I won't risk sendingyou to somewhere that may have closed, changed owners, changed menus. But have no fear... great food wil be near. BAK |
Agree with BAK, there are lots of choices on St. Denis and St. Laurent. My husband and I were in Montreal for a weekend in mid-August. We had breakfasts at Brioche Lyonnaise on St. Denis and Eggspectations downtown location and would recommend both places. We had dinner at L'Express on St Denis. We did not have reservations, but went early (5:30) and got seated immediately. Food was very good, but service was a little slow at some points through the meal.
We also splurged one night and ate at Bonaparte's in the Auberge Bonaparte Hotel in old Montreal. The food was excellent, service attentive and friendly. We never felt rushed throughout the evening and will definitely go back again. Maybe someone else can suggest a good restaurant near the Comedy Nest. |
Savannah restaurant at the corner of St. Laurent and Mont Royal is excellent and the decor is great.
Fonduementale on St. Denis , near Marianne is a favorite of mine for fondue of all kinds; maple fondue for dessert is out of this world. |
Thanks for the info,
I understand that you really can't go wrong with restaurants in Montreal but since there are 4 of us (2 couples) I thought it best to get some suggestions just in case we can't come to a decision. Don't want to waste valuable shopping time browsing menus :-) |
There are SOOOOO many good dining options in Montreal , my hubby and I just wander around checking ambience and reading menus .... Then just pick ! And voila ! You've found yourself a treasure ! Faith

BRUNOISE was sensational! (I went on Labor Day weekend.) Don't miss...make reservations!
