Restaurant recommendation for business trip to TO
I am traveling to TO on Thursday and need to arrange a dinner for business associates. We'll be staying out at the airport but may be willing to go into the city for dinner. Looking for restaurant recommendations for both the Mississuaga/Etobicoke/Brampton area (near airport) or somewhere more interesting for my fellow Americans who have not been to TO prior to this trip. Perhaps somewhere like Yorkville or elsewhere. I am somewhat familar with the city. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

You didn't specify budget. These are all high end suggestions downtown.

Canoe - high end; good food; great view from 54th floor of Toronto Dominion Tower. Canoe would not be my perosnal choice but the view cannot be beat (technically, CN Tower's 360 has better view but I understand the food is not as good).

A Yorkville suggestion is Opus, food is Cal/Ital; recently won Wine Spectator's Grand Award for its wine list (1 of 4 in Canada).

For serious foodies and dollars, Susur. A few years ago, Susur Lee was rated one of top ten chefs in the world.

If you want more, let us know budget and preferences. Also check torontolife.com.

Budget would be approx $20-30 per entree - so I'm guessing this is not high end. Can't say what preferences anyone will have for the type of food but just would like to see a bit of the city. I suspect Canoe would be a bit too much. Looking for nice atmosphere for middle of the road business types(not romantic or too hip) but good food.

For $20-30 per main dish, I wouldn't bother coming downtown.

Depending on their sophistication, I'd head for the Airport Marriott, which has a good dining room, Tucker's Market place, which is casual, has good food, and is nice and relaxed, or Le Bifteque, which has a nice French name and sells large, larger and huge pieces of good meat at reasonable prices.

It's fancier inside than Tuckers, and the downtown Toronto branch is, I belelve, the best steak at the lowest price in the nicest atmosphere in downtown Toronto. Half theprice, by the time you're trhough, of Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.

Tuckers and Le Bifteque are both in a cluster of restaurants nestled in the corner of highway 27 north and Dixon Road, more or less across Dixon Road from the Delta Hotel.

You won't get much better food (although you'll get a wider choice of retaurants) by coming downtown, in the same price range.

BAK

Bennie . . . check out Grappa restaurant in Little Italy on College Street. Great Italian food, not overpriced and easy to get to. Would work out well for a dinner with business associates.

There's also a lot of places on College street to go for after dinner drinks or you could check out the pub Hotel Rex on Queen Street for live blues/jazz.
