Rent a car in Seattle or Victoria?

Is it cheaper to rent in Victoria with the favorable exchange rate? And the cost of a car both ways is quite a bit. Also what are logistical issues of getting to Port Angeles without a car? Also is there a ferry closer to Seattle to Victoria if no car is involved? Thanks.

Your questions don't arrive with the context needed to afford you a fair answer.

Just exactly where do you want to GO with this car, and what is your citizenship??

I am a US citizen and want the car for about a week to explore Vancouver Island. Thanks.

it is probably cheaper to rent in Seattle. I’ve rented a car in Victoria before and it was more expensive even given the exchange rate. Taking the car on the ferry is expensive, but taking the Clipper is also expensive.

but a lot depends on how long you need the car for. If you just want it for a day, while you’ll be on Vancouver Island for a week, it would be much more expensive to rent the car in Seattle.

To explore Vancouver Island, fly there; Victoria is the capitol of the whole province. Less driving, no ferry, and in particular, no problem taking a rental car across a border into a foreign country (yes, that can be complicated and maybe costly.)

The latter part is minimally significant to a U.S. CITIZEN needing the car to drive around Vancouver Island, Canada.

All you need to do is inform any of the major rental companies that you will be visiting Canada.
