Recommendation for 25th anniversary dinner in Vancouver

Looking for a nice place to have a fabulous dinner for our 25th anniversary. Staying at Fairmont Pacific Rim, but don't have a problem taking taxi to any location. Interested in a restaurant with a tasting menu, but most importantly we want fabulous food! Less interested in Asian food, for this particular meal, but still willing to hear suggestions.
Thanks!

Here are my suggestions:

- French: Le Crocodile http://lecrocodilerestaurant.com/
- Italian: Cioppino's http://www.cioppinosyaletown.com/
- Seafood: Blue Water Café http://bluewatercafe.net/

From the Fairmont Pacific Rim, Le Crocodile is a 10 minute walk. The other two are in Yaletown, which is about a 30 minute walk (or short cab ride).

Happy anniversary!

The Cannery, at the east end of the harbour.

Get there by airplane:

The Cannery as mentioned is long gone.

For a low key restaurant of quality & distinction try Bishops-in Kitsilano a short taxi ride from downtown.

Sam, sorry to hear the Cannery is gone. I checked the airplane web site before I posted, but should have checked the restaurant, too.

A few years ago I went to "C RESTAURANT" at the bottom of Howe Street. It is very expensive but they have a tasting menu. Excellent service. You have to take a taxi from the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel.

Raincity Grill....you won't be disappointed..I hope!! They are right near English Bay so you could take a nice walk before or after dinner to make your night complete. From your downtown hotel you will need a taxi, but it will be WELL WORTH IT!!!
Happy eating!!

Thanks everyone - I will check all of these out.

Another vote for Cioppino's...amazing food and very nice atmosphere. Very high end, but worth every cent IMHO.

I have had lunch at Le Crocodile and rank it near the top of my best meals in Vancouver.

Bacchus at the Wedgewood Hotel on Hornby just south of Robson is always a nice place for dinner. It is attached to a lounge area, with pianist, so might not be the quietest dinner, but the food is wonderful.

Bacchus is a lovely 'grown-up' resto - very pretty.

Cioppino's is very au courant (should be in Italian!) with
'cool' people (Diana Krall and Elvis C have a regular table)
and a wonderful wine list.

If it's a warm, dry evening (please, yes and soon) Umberto's
El Giardino is very pleasant esp. on the patio.

Vancouver has so many good restos your choice would depend on
the type of food you like.

Another vote for Raincity Grill. It's our favourite place for dinner when we're in Vancouver.
