re: 4 full days in Tofino-too long?

Is four full days in Tofino too much time there or is there enough to do in April? Wandering if I should cut one day out?

It depends on how you like to spend your time.
If you like to browse through shops or go to shows or see museums, you will find four days too long.
However, if you like exploring the area, walking on the beach, watching the tides come in and out, hiking through the rainforest, nature photography, watching the moon or sun set over the ocean, four days will be way too short!!!

I just returned from Tofino where I spent 5 nights. Fourth year in a row that I've been there in late November for 5 nights. I have yet to get bored in Tofino/Ucluelet. There are numerous beaches and rainforest trails to explore. I highly recommend going to Ucluelet for the Wild Pacific Trail- many fantastic view points overlooking the ocean. Also in April there should still be whales migrating north. If that's the case, the Wild Pacific Trail should provide many viewing opportunities.
