RCMP Musical Ride - Don't miss it!

Just saw the RCMP Musical Ride for the first time at the Topsfield Fair in Massachusetts this weekend. What a great sight. I've been wanting to see this for about 25 years now ever since I saw the opening sequences at the Canadian movie at Epcot. This weekend was my first chance as they don't travel to the US very often- only two shows in the US this year - and none of my trips to Canada coincided with their schedule I was headed to the fair as I do annually and wasn't I surprised to see what was on the schedule.

Canadians and tourists alike should not miss out on the chance to see this show. It surpassed my expectations. The horses are beautiful, the show is great and of course the RCMPs look magnificant in their dress uniforms. My girls loved the show and want to become Canadians just to join the RCMPs.

Visitors to Ottawa might be interested to know that the Musical Ride gives free performances at its Rockcliffe base for about a week at the end of June each year. You just bring your lawn chair or blanket, find a place to sit and enjoy. The stables are open for visiting afterward.

When you fall in love with a Mountie (RCMP Officer) they tell you you have "scarlet fever"...

It's hard not to fall for one of them in their uniforms though!

Thanks bennnie, I didn't even know it still existed! I've never seen it.

They were at Toronto's Canadian National Exhibition over Labour Day weekend this year. First time seeing it. Definitely worth seeing - the precision, pagentry and colours.

I thought they were discontinuing the musical ride due to cost cutting.

I was especially impressed by the Maple Leaves stencilled on the horses flanks. No damage to the horses, the hair is just brushed in the opposite direction through a stencil. I saw the Musical Ride with my 89 year old ex-Mountie dad and was he ever proud of them.
