Rainfall in June at Banff

Hi, I have planned a trip to Banff-Jasper during June 20-25. I am worried about the rain during that time. Weather prediction shows rainfall during that time. I would like to know what is the pattern of rain, does it rain heavily or rains for a short time and clears up. Please let me know of your experience. Thanks for your help.

Well, it's the Rockies in June. That's a month full of variabilities and I believe also the rainiest month of the year for the area. Plus, there in the Rockies you can expect really wide variations even in the course of the day. Including snow.

So - warmer, the black flies and other biters will be out, lakes may be mostly unfrozen. Bring layers of clothing, your raingear, a hat, insect repellent.

Also - as you set out on a hike (even a short one), don't assume the weather will stay the way it is. Be prepared for a lot of changes.

Pay attention to signage warning about bears, this will be a pretty active time of year for them.

Since you are going in latter June, you should hit much nicer weather than early month.

Thanks for your reply. I am keeping my fingers crossed for some good weather, which will allow me to photograph the beauty of the place.

Sometimes less-than-perfect weather can make for better images - mist and clouds can create some stunning effects around the peaks.
