Rafting in AB/BC
Hello.
We would like to feel the experience of river rafting (we have no opportunity in Germany) and would like to ask, if you have some ideas. Heard in a travel report, that the Fraser River is very popular. Our routing will be as follows: (2 nts Calgary) 2 nts Golden 3 nts Jasper 2 nts Wells Gray 1 nt between Wells Gray and Salmon Arm (not yet booked) 2 nts Salmon Arm 2 nts Summerland (1 nt Vancouver surrounding) (3 nts Ucluelet) (2 nts Victoria) Thanks a lot for your help. Sunny regards from Germany (donīt miss the World Championship in Germany on Friday and keep the fingers cross for us :-) Constanze |
As you will be spending a couple of nights in Golden, you can take advantage of some of the best whitewater rafting in BC, if not all Western Canada. There are a number of companies in Golden which run trips on the Kicking Horse River. Two of the best are Hydra and Wet 'n Wild.

I agree - the Kicking Horse River is number one - as long as your group doesn't include young children.

Why do you not recommend Kicking Horse for those with small children?
I have booked there for July with kids 7, 10, 13, 14 and they said that it was fine?? Am I getting myself into something? |
ontariotraveller: The rapids on the Kicking Horse are classified from I to IV. Most companies will have tours that only include the less difficult stretches and are suitable for novices and children. These will be on the upper river, as the lower canyon is Class IV. Some tours on the more difficult stretches have minimum ages (e.g. 12 and 16 yrs.)
However, you should have no problem in finding a suitable trip for your whole family. |
