Quebec with family in April

My family will be traveling to Quebec during the second week of April next year. We have children ages 5 and 8 who will be with us. What are the best things to do that they will enjoy? What is the weather like this time of year? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

If you do a search back on Quebec, you'll get lots of ideas. I assume you are referring to Quebec City in particular? Mid April can be very unpredictable in this part of the world. The norm would be for late winter early spring conditions, with temps in the high 40's (farenheit) in the day. However, you could also get a major snowstorm, or very mild spring conditions.

5 and 8 Hmmm. The various multimedia interpretation centers you encounter along the way may capture the attention of all members in your party. Quebec City has several within walking distance. Some with character dress walking tour guides. Some indoors for bad weather options.

Where are you from? I'm from Iowa, which is pretty chilly in April, but I was in QC in May last year, and it was freezing! There were still snow drifts that hadn't melted!

I seriously wished I would have brought my winter coat.

5 and 8? I'm not sure what to suggest. In the old city, there is a little park on one side of Chateau Frontenac where there were usually jugglers/performers, etc. A cruise on the river might be neat, as well as MontMorency falls. There is a really good gelato place, but I can't remember the name right now. It's in the old, old city (down the stairs, if that makes sense).

Have fun! I can't wait to go back!

There will be snow plowed to heights beyond two cars stacked together, and the wind can be just bitterly cold and howling. But at least it is going to be better than it had been in March.

Quebec is a splendid city with great scenery and a true french feel that goes far beyond what Montreal can serve up that way.

Just dress warmly and be ready for anything.
