Quebec City - where to stay?

I’m booked for Quebec City at the end of the month. Which area is better to base myself? Upper town or lower town? I’ll be by myself so I want to be in an area that is lively and has plenty of people walking around.

I have the same question but my visit will be during Christmas week. In my past visits I would stay near the Chateau Frontenac but that was years ago. My preference is an airbnb type place..

You can't go wrong with either upper or lower. From the upper, you will get some wonderful views, the lower may have more in the way of small funky restaurants, markets and such.
