quebec city old quebec hotel b&b

We want to stay in quebec city, or old quebec-not sure the difference. We want it to feel
like and look like we are in Paris-any ideas on hotels or b&b or area to stay in?

The Manoir de l'esplanade is just inside the old town walls.

Quebec City is a medium sized city on the St. Lawrence. It is basically a French speaking city, and by far the most scenic and interesting part is it's walled old city. If you visit definitely stay in or close to the old city. It's not really like Paris, but more like a small 400 year old walled city you might find anywhere in France. Aside from the American cars, you could easily imagine being in France. Montreal might be considered more like Paris, since it is much bigger, more cosmopolitan, and ethnically diverse. Quebec City is much more picturesque however.

We've just returned from two weeks in Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec City. I agree with everything that zootsi has said.

We stayed at Chateau de Pierre http://www.chateaudepierre.com/en/ and were very pleased with everything. Free wifi and everyone there was so nice and accomodating. We loved the location--very quiet yet right there in the old town. We originally tried to get reservations at Manoir de l'Esplanade, but ended up at Chateau de Pierre and liked its location much better.

We are presently staying on the 10th floor of the hotel Pur which was recommended to us as the visitor info center. They even booked the room for us. It is immaculate and very relaxing. We have a king-sized bed, a huge window covering most of one wall, a very modern room and bathroom, and a desk, refrigerator,.... I would most definitely stay here again. It IS new and modern so if you're looking for Quebec ambiance, it isn't the place to stay; but it's so tranquil and lovely that after a day of walking, it's just what we needed. The rates are very reasonable -- starting about $120 before taxes and a small fee for our dog. The staff are very nice. We're really enjoying our stay here. It really feels like the vacation that we needed.
