Quebec City hotels - Old Quebec or not?

My husband and I are planning to visit Quebec City in May 2009. We are from the west coast and have never been to Quebec City. So far we are considering two hotels, Le Château de Pierre and Hotel Loews le Concorde. The Hotel Loews le Concorde appears to have spectacular views but I believe is it just outside Vieux-Quebec. Would that location be a problem?

No, it's not a problem at all. It's within easy walking distance so the location just makes it a little more accessible.

Thanks.

We did not stay inside the walls of Old Quebec, we stayed at the Delta, a short walk away. After I had been there, and seen all the little hotels inside the gates I wished I had. They are so quaint and pretty. They are very small in terms of the number of rooms. We had driven there, so I asked a bus tour guide where everyone parks who is staying inside the wall. He said (in a thick French accent)"they take your car to a place you would not believe". What I got from that was there is a central parking place and your hotel parks your car there for you. Also, we had a teenager with us who we thought would be happier in a larger hotel with a pool etc. Quebec itself is quite compact and you can walk anywhere.

I am glad to hear this opinion. We won't have a car so parking won't be an issue.
