Quebec & Montreal + Wheelchair
 

Any suggestions on places to go in both cities bearing in mind one person will be using a wheelchair. Also, what to avoid because of said chair. Will be in each city for 3 days in July. Thanks much.

I have no first-hand experience but a quick Internet search pointed to many sources of information concerning accessibility. For instance, riding the essential Montreal Metro subway requires (I assume) an elevator to the platform; here is the official transit site: http://www.stm.info/en/access
I found a number of links to Restomontreal, a guide to restaurants which I have used for other interests. Major attractions seem aware of accessibility issues on their websites too. There's a Restoquebec site too and I expect you can quickly Google more sources for Quebec City. Both cities" tourist bureeaux have large websites.

I also don’t have much useful first hand experience to offer, but both cities have steep hills, so be sure to get “the lay of the land” before choosing a hotel., Hopefully some locals will chime in and make suggestions.

Montreal is relatively flat on the east to west streets like St Catherine, Sherbrooke, etc. Going north from Old montreal to the downtown is a moderate uphill, going north from the downtown to the plateau is a moderate uphill. In other words, getting from one area to another involves hills, but getting around in each area is fairly flat. As for restaurant access, many places have outdoor tables in warm weather which makes things simple. The pedestrian promenade along the old port area is very wheelchair friendly, with lots to see and do. I see lots of folks getting around in motorized scooters all over the city. I'm not sure about public transportation however. All in all, Montreal should be doable. Quebec City might be trickier, as it's on two levels with a steep stairway or small funicular to connect them. Many of the streets are cobblestone.
