qeubec city 3 nite getaway

My wife and I are flying to quebec city at the end of june and staying for 3 nights. we are staying at the Fairmount chateau frontenac. My questions are;
should we rent a car or take a taxi from the airport?
we do not have many opportunities to get away alone, I plan to have dinner in the hotel on the first nite, can anyone suggest 2 nice restuarants for dinner?
I read that the la manoir richelin is a nice day trip, would we have the time to drive there?
any other suggestions would be very much appreciated. many thanks frank

I would take a cab or other type of transportation into the city. You definitely don't want a car once in the city - the streets are tiny and everything you want to see is within walking distance. You might want to rent a car for an afternoon and drive out to Montmorecy Falls, then drive the loop road around i'le Orleans, and if you have the time, you could drive up to Manoir Richelieu.

zootsi, thanks for your reply. we are staying at the fairmont hotel. is it easy to park at the hotel if we rent a car at the airport? i am guessing that renting a car and leaving it at the hotel until we needed it e.g. drive to the falls and then go to manoir R. mitght make the most sense (unless it is imposible to get to the hotel by car) frank

Hello:

I would second the recommendation made by zootsi: just rent a car for the one day. Parking at the Chateau Frontenac is CAD 31.00 for indoor valet parking per day and CAD 26.00 for self-parking. Seems a waste just to have a car sitting in the garage. As mentioned there are plenty of fine restaurants, e.g. "Le Continental", etc., shops and attractions within easy walking distance of your hotel.

Have a great trip!

seems to me that if you can afford that hotel, you can afford the taxi ride.

Park a car down by the ferry landing or Chateau?
May sound dumb but take the guided tour of the Chateau. We were escorted by Rose. The very first guest to ever stay at the Chateau.
Wander the upper and lower city to include outside the Jean gate Youville area.
Drive up to Montmorency falls (OK)and Canyon Saint Anne Lots Better.
Take the ferry to Levi, Dine and return at the calculated most romantic part of the evening/dusk? twilight? a tad more darker? Awesome potential for a forever remembered mental picture of the city/Chateau.
