Public transport from Montreal airport to downtown?

Hi,

We're thinking of staying 1 night at the Four Point Sheraton at the Montreal Airport. Is it possible to take a bus or subway from the hotel to Montreal downtown? Is the station close by the hotel? How long is the trip?

Thanks.

Hi JC98.

There is no Sheraton at the Montreal airport. However, if you are staying at Sheraton Four Points at 6600 Cote de Liesse, bus 202 stops right in front of the hotel. It is a short ride to the Du College metro station, and then about 14 or 15 metro stops to downtown or Old Montreal. About 45 to one hour traveling time to either destination.

Thanks, Mark, for your precise information. I'm looking at the metro map now. So, the bus fare allows you to take the metro too?

But once you get out of the metro station, you have to buy another ticket if you want to continue w/ the metro. Thinking of stopping by the Atwater market before getting to downtown or old montreal. Worth it?

Thanks

to go from the airport to downtown take a bus, just outside of the baggage area and to the left. There is a booth there to buy a ticket. If you are two it is cheaper to take a taxi to downtown,$35.00.

When you pay your bus fare (exact change or bus ticket only) ask the driver for a "transfer". You will need one per each person. Use the transfer in the turnstile at the metro station. Coming back, pick up a transfer at the special machine at the metro station (usually located near the stairs leading to the platform) and hand it to the bus driver.

Sorry, can't help you with your decision about the Atwater market. I have never been there in the thirty two years I have lived in the Montreal area.

Thanks, all! Leaving tomorrow.

Would I be able to buy the 6 tickets (some discount?) on the bus?

Thanks.

No, if you have no ticket getting on the bus, you'll have to pay for an individual ticket; the bus driver won't have a group of 6 ("carnet de 6"). You have to buy the "6 tickets" at either a metro or a pharmacy.
