Yes, thank you so much for all the information. I probably will try Priceline again, I just don't understand why I bid $100 for a downtown 4* and was rejected so I went down to a 3* and got the Holiday Inn. On Bidding for Travel, the Westin went for a lot less and it's a 4*. Don't get it. But I will read your advice over again and when I get up my courage, will try it again. Thanks.

eurock - have a great trip!

If you bid $100 for a 4* and didn't get it, that means there's no inventory. Drop it and try again later on. Priceline doesn't always have all rooms at all levels.

If you want to do 3*, fine. Start a new bid at a much lower price. That's how it should be done.

I tried a 4 star airport for 70.00 and was rejected so I tried a 3 star for 48.00 and was also rejected. I will try again in 72 hrs. Thanks for your help.

Hi,

If it matters to anyone who might read this thread, just last Saturday night I needed a one-night stay in Vancouver and I used Priceline to land a room at the 4-star Marriott Vancouver Pinnacle Downtown for the sum total of $74 U.S.

That represented a "bid" of $60 per and the Priceline charges added on.

I cannot STRESS ENOUGH how important it is to BECOME FULLY FAMILIAR with www.biddingfortravel.com beFORE any use of Priceline.

The first thing to do upon winning a bid on Priceline is to rush to the hotel's website and pretent to be making the very same reservation there, to see how much lower your Priceline price is.

I would have spent about $137 U.S. total had I made the same reservation directly. At checkout my only charges were $2.14 for telephone usage.

Well, NorthwestMale, the "official" recommendation is to check the prices of all the possible hotels listed on biddingfortravel.com on each hotel's website before bidding.

Because you don't know. Maybe that Marriott is running a special that night ... ;)

Hello...
Is it better to fly into Vancouver or Seattle? I am touring Seattle, Vancouver, and Victoria. Thanks.

Mycuppajava - Just check the fares and go with the cheaper ones. From the US, SEA is usually significantly cheaper than YVR.
