Price too good to be true?
The Travelodge downtown is quoting a price of 95.00 (canadian) for rooms and breakfast during the jazz festival. Is this hotel ok and in a good area? I am wondering/concerned since it is so reasonably priced. Thank you.

Michele it would help if you told us what city you planning to visit and which Travelodge.

Yes, I must admit you're right!! I am referring to the Travelodge that is in downtown Montreal. I didn't get the street it was on but will call them back after I post this to find out.

The address for the travelodge is 50 Reno-Levesque Blvd.,West and is advertized as next to the convention centre. Thank you again for your help.

Being from Montreal i can't tell you about the travelodge since i obviously never stayed in it, what i can tell you for sure is that it's a good location, you'll be minutes away from the Jazz festival. It's close to Chinatown, Ste-Catherine and St-Denis streets (plenty of bars and restaurants) and close to subway stops.

While this Travelodge is centrally located downtown, it is not exactly the most pleasant area of downtown. If your looking to save some money, I'm sure you will be fine. While it's not a dangerous or bad area, there are a few sex shops and a mini 'red light' corner about a block away. I would spend another 10 dollars or so and stay at the Holiday Inn or the Courtyard on Sherbrooke, the Delta on president Kennedy, or the Crowne Plaza on Sherbrooke East, or the Omni on the west side of town.

There is a big difference between spending 95 and 229 for a hotel room. I have never stayed at the travelodge but the area is exceptable. You probably won't have as many "extras as you would at the more deluxe hotels but if that isn't important to you then you should be fine.
