Possibly driving to Ontario from Sault Ste Marie, MI then back to US east coast

Going from Sault Ste. Marie, MI to east coast U.S. with my daughters next month. We are all vaccinated. We were mulling over the idea of driving back to the U.S. through Ontario, crossing back over at Buffalo or Lewiston. Looks like a beautiful drive. We will be in two different U.S. towns 72 hours before crossing the Canadian border and won't be able to wait for a paper document to upload saying we've tested negative (which hopefully we will). Is 72 hours even long enough to get a result? Does the 72 hours start at the time of the test or from the time one receives the result? Has anyone done this yet and if so, is the result sent via email or text? (The only person I know who has ever had a test was called with the results by the pharmacy where the test was given.) If we were able to get proof on paper or have an email or text sent to us, would we also need a pass of some sort to get into Ontario specifically, and/or would we receive permission from Arrivecan before we arrive at the border? Thanks for whatever you can tell me.

Based on these guidelines from Canada the within 72 hours refers to "take a test" (the link says "flying" but the actual page describes the requirements also for driving)

https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/tr...ng-into-canada

"If you're driving or entering by water, you must take a test within 72 hours of your planned entry into Canada."

And here is further county information as to Covid testing sites. It appears there are multiple ways to get results, depending on the provider (click on covid testing sites to find the right part of the page).

For other requirements such as how to provide the proof of vaccination which appears to be required at least 72 hours before arrival, here the other part of the Canada website

Thank you for the advice. We've decided it's too uncertain to expect that we'd get written proof of a test within 72 hours, so we've decided to go back down on the U.S. side. Perhaps in the future we'll see the Canadian side.
