Pls help with Vancouver car rental !
Can anyone recommend a good discount website? I have checked:travelocity, expedia, travelnow, turbotrip, & the 5 major car rental companies...
I need a compact/int car for about a month, this July. The best rate I could find was $589 USD. |
http://www.rentawreck.ca/raw2/
is a place to try although the price you've found is a good one. |
I checked http://www.carrentals.com and the best I saw was $583.27 (USD). You may want to try Priceline.

$20 a day is an awfully good price for a rental car in a major city. $27 cdn is equally excellent, even without extra insurance, in the middle of tourist season.
Depending on where you are coming from, you could rent in Seattle and drive up and back, or rent in Bellingham, Washington, and drive up, but I don't think you'll save much. And are you sure you need the car the whole time? If you are in downtown Vancouver for two weeks out of the month, you could get away without the car quite nicely, probably, for half the time, and save the price of parking, too. BAK |
BAK $20 might sound Ok, but once the insurance (no, my credit card doesn't cover ins. ) & taxes are added on, it will be at least double that.
I do need a car, we are making mostly side trips (Manning, the suburbs,Fraser Valley, Whistler, the Island etc...). Will actually only stay in the city for a few days at the beginning & end. Will have to find a hotel with parking, extremely limited public parking in the West end. |
I just came back and we rented from Alamo using a Sams club rate. Total cost for a week mid size car was US 144. Spouse driver is not additional. Try Costco prices and BJ's also.

Check with your own insurance company and see if your current car insurance covers any part of the rental. It might,if your own car isn't being used during that time.
