Please recommend B&B or hotel near Waterloo,ON for group?

Hi, our son is scheduled to graduate from university at the end of this term and we are looking for accomodations near Waterloo, Ontario. We will need at least two to three rooms and would like access to a common room so we can serve refreshments and have a bit of a family & friends get-together. Graduation is the middle of June.

We are not adverse to driving in from Elora or Fergus, or some of the other small towns in the area.

Just looking for some good recommendations from those with first hand experience. We wrote to one B&B, the Elora Inn, and they are already booked. We are holding back-up reservations at the Best Western - St. Jacobs Country Inn and at the Comfort Inn on Weber Street in Waterloo. DH & I are hoping to do a little better than either of these - something a bit more cozy or special; rather than a chain.

We would like to stay under $175 CAD per night per room. And, we really don't need ulta-fancy accommodations, just ones that are clean and comfortable for visiting with family and friends. A nice suite could work great. For sure, parents and grandparents are going. I would love to find a suite with two bedrooms, a common living room - sit and visit space and a kitchenette.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Sharon, there is a great looking B&B in Waterloo that I haven't stayed at yet but plan on going in the next month - http://www.hillcresthouse.ca/
Looks like it might be close to what you are looking for. Also check out the following for a list of B&B's in the area that might suit -http://www.bbcanada.com/associations/stjacobs/
Also in town is the Waterloo Inn http://www.waterlooinn.com/
Hope this helps.

The Jakobstettel Inn in St. Jacob's is about 15 minutes from Waterloo. Large Victorian mansion, nice grounds.

I , too , have stayed at Jakobstettel and loved it. It is right in the town of St.Jacobs, which is a wonderful town.

The Jakobstettle looks quite nice. Unfortunately, it is out of our price range.

Thank you for all the suggestions so far.

For Sharon, had a wonderful stay at Hillcrest House. Very comfortable and cozy, nicely furnished, great ambiance. Warm, friendly hosts and a delicious breakfast. They have three bedrooms - all with a Queen bed. One of the rooms has a wee space (used to be a big closet) off it that also has a day bed in it so that room can conceivably sleep three. The common areas are also very nice - a living room, dining room and library. They have done receptions for up to 75 people so the space is good and very easy to move around in - a nice flow. I would have no hesitation in recommending Hillcrest House and will certainly return. Let me know if you have any other specific questions.
