We are two adults travelling to Canada for the first time in September for 2 weeks. Our plans are as follows , and I would be very grateful for any informtion/comments at all particularly about hotesls , driving and lengths of stay at the various locations.
Arrive in Toronto , stay for 4 nights at the Ramada Hotel , during which time we make a day trip to Niagara Falls. we will then pick up a car and drive to Kingston for one night staying at Radisson Harbour Front. We leave there and drive to Ottawa for four nights staying at the Lord Elgin Hotel ,and possibly drive/train to Montreal during this stay. We then drive to Elmhirst Resort , Keene for 4 nights chill out and return to Toronto to fly home.Thank you in advance |
All sounds reasonable but which Ramada in Toronto?
The fall colours may be starting by the time you drive to Ottawa which is a plus. Why Keene? Is that on Lake Scugog - do you fish? |
Here is reaction albeit without knowing where you are from (ie what would be unique etc) and what your interests are...if you are not going to Montreal, then 4 days in Ottawa may be too long. Given say 8 days in Toronto, Niagara and Ottawa, then I would do 5 days (or even 6)Toronto/Niagara and 3 days in Ottawa. If you have read other postings, Niagara can vary from a day trip to 2-3 days in the Niagara area for most people.
Depending when in september, the Toronto Film festival may be on which would be a plus/minus depending on what you like. |
Speaking as a Torontonian, I think 5 days is too much UNLESS you attend some of the film festival.

Having been a tourist in Kingston and TO, I think that Kingston and surrounding area is definitely worth more than one night! The surrounding area is BEAUTIFUL - check out a tour on the 1000 Islands with on (spelling probably wrong) Ganonoque Cruise lines. Anything longer than the 1 hr cruise is too long.
