PEI, Nova Scotia or both

We are staying in Nova Scotia for a couple days and can stay there longer (2 day more) or go to PEI for a couple days. I have heard that you have to travel more to find the beautiful spots in PEI as opposed to Nova Scotia where it surrounds you. Is it worth going to PEI or should we stay in Nova Scotia? Sandy

Hi, I'm biased as i was raised there but P.E.I. is certainly beautiful and well worth a visit. There are gorgeous beaches, great bike trails and the whole province is really very tiny - and you can be in Charlottetown from Halifax in 3.5 hours.

Yes, PEI is very small (175 miles tip-to-tip) and all of the roads outside of Charlottetown are quiet, country-like paths.

If you know of a few spots on PEI that pique your curiosity, then by all means go there.

Nova Scotia is probably a better place to add 2 days to a 2-day trip than would be using 2 days on PEI.

I have written at great length on Nova Scotia on this forum. Just click on my name and sift through the posts for appropriate topics if interested.

Where is your destination in Nova Scotia?

We will be staying in Halifax during our Nova Scotia part of the trip. I think we will go to PEI and just need to figure out a place to stay. We were thinking of the Inn at Bay Fortune but got a response that it might not be the greatest location. Any thoughts??

Not sure where you are coming from ... but if only in this part of Canada and won't be back, why not see more than one Province? PEI is flat, farming country with warm water beaches and lots to do. However, most parts would be more commercialized than Nova Scotia - and when I say commercialized I mean water parks, theme parks, etc. I have always enjoyed visiting PEI - can't say about accommodations - it has been awhile since I have stayed there.

Are you departing from Halifax? That would make a big difference on travel time if you only have two days.
