PEI--North Cape Coastal Drive or Points East Coastal Drive??

We don't have time to see all of PEI so we plan to do Charlottetown and the Central Coast and then we have to choose between North Cape or Points East. Any ideas??? We are on a Halifax to Halifax loop and we will have done the south shore east of Halifax, the Annapolis Valley and the Cabot Trail. My first thought was that the North Cape Coastal Drive would be the most different from these. Anyone?

We will have done a lot of driving by this time so are either of these Coastal Drives even worth it or should we relax and enjoy the Central area more and forget about both of these?

Any input would be great.

How long does it take to do each?
PEI is geographically relatively small.

I cannot tell you which to do, if either, but I am topping this for you to see what others have to say.

I have driven all of PEI.

If you want to hit "the best" I would go as far west as Tyne Valley, and as far east as Souris. If you dont want to drive that far east at least go as far as St Peters Bay.

Take a look at www.drivecrosscountry.net/RouteM1 for an overview of the island. You can't go wrong with either drive. I favor the eastern end with Naufrage Harbour and North Lake -- take time to walk the fishing docks and chat with the fishermen. Also, Basin Head is a highspot, especially on a sunny day. Take time to visit a lighthouse, there are several. Whatever you do, take your time to get out and walk about to enjoy.
