Passport Question

My friend and I are going to Quebec next week and she just realized her passport expired. Does anyone know how strict the border is? Will she be able to get back in if she brings her expired passpoert, birth cert, license?

Sorry I forgot to say that we're travelling via land, not air and hence my question. It seems on the passport website they may take a license, anyone have any experience with this??

Assuming you're American, you don't need a paasport to enter Canada, but you do need one to re-enter the US whether travelling by land, sea or air.

thanks for the reply but this website says if entering by land you need a passport or other approved document. I'm wondering what that is...

The only other choice is an "enhanced" drivers license from NY that has been approved for border crossing... we had to apply for international clearance... your friend needs an immediate action on her passport... theres another post on passports currently on the board...

NEXUS is another approved document. But, of course, you need time to obtain it.

Getting a passport on a the spot requires traveling physically to a city with a passport agency with the capability:
