Pan Pacific or Westin in Whistler?

PLease help us decide. The prices are comparable. Also do we need to rent a car in Vancouver to get to Whistler or should we take a shuttle or the train? How much time to allow to get from Whistler to Vancouver airport
THANKS!
Laura

Hi LauraD,

I've only walked through the lobbies of both hotels - both look lovely.

After landing at Vancouver Int'l Airport, are you going directly to Whistler or stopping over in Vancouver?

Perimeter Bus www.perimeterbus.com/ and Whistler Bus www.whistlerbus.com/ both have runs directly from the Airport to Whistler. There are probably others as well - try googling something like "Bus Vancouver Airport to Whistler".

Unfortunately, the train no longer runs from North Vancouver to Whistler.

Depending on how long you are staying in Whistler and what your plans/interests are, I find I don't need a car once I'm there. The two hotels you're considering are in the Village, so again, you don't need a car (along with the parking expense).

Have a great time in Whistler,

L

... and Helijet offers helicopter service directly from the Airport to Whistler Village, see www.helijet.com.

Cheers,

Linda

Both hotels are very nice and are both in the village. the Westin is 4 years old and the Pan is 8. The Westin has better fitness and pool facilities, and a better spa, and may be a bit quieter as well. but you can't go wrong with either one. I'd take the bus or the helijet. You don't need a car in Whistler, and that way you can enjoy the view( especially on the helijet) If you drive, it is two hours to Whistler from the airport. Go to www.whistler-blackcomb.com to check for construction delays on the highway. Cheers, Al

I am going to Whistler too but I will be stopping at vancouver for a few days first. Does anyone know how I can go from vancouver to whistler if I do not wish to drive there? Thanks

Greyhound has several daily buses to Whistler from downtown-area Vancouver. You have to reserve at least 2 days in advance.

We just stayed in the Pan Pacific. It was very nice however I thought it was a bit noisey. We were right across from the gondolas where the mountain bikers went up. Over the weekend there was lots of live "loud" music. However, we added a night (because we loved Whistler) and they were able to accomodate us on the other side of the motel. It was nice and quiet there! We loved it! Have fun!

My husband and I recently took Helijet from Vancouver airport to Whistler and loved it! The scenery was amazing and it was so quick -- took as long to get from YVR to Whistler as it did to take gondola to the top of whistler mountain (approx. 1/2 hour).

If prices are comparable I would choose the Westin. The spa there is wonderful and I think it would be quieter b/c it doesn't face the gondolas as a PP indicated. Be sure, however, to eat at the Dublihn GAte restaurant at the Pan Pac.

Enjoy your trip....

Thanks for the replies. Now also considering the Four Seasons. And is the helijet option a safe option in the winter??? (We will be going first week in Jan)
THANKS!

The Four Seasons is my favorite in Whistler! Gorgeous, not large and rambling as some of the others, and almost "warm and cozy" if you can believe that. Understated elegance and in a very quiet area.

We are also heading to Whistler and trying to decide between Four Seasons and Westin. Would appreciate any more views / comments on Four Seasons in particular.
