I'm planning a trip to Nova Scotia and/or PEI and would like to sample as many oysters (on the half shell) and lobsters as possible. I would appreciate suggestions of the best restaurants. We have to start(and end) the trip in Halifax.

There are many places in PEI you can sample both Malpeque oysters and their lovely cold water lobsters. The New Glasgow Lobster suppes is probably a good choice.

In Halifax, Murphy's on the Water, Salty's or the fish place at the upscale food court at the Historic Properties waterfront will steam you a lobster. Considered one of the best places to traditionally sample a lobster is at Hall's Harbour outside of Wolfville.

Of course the best lobster are the ones you buy directly off the wharf from the fisherman and cook yourself. The difference in taste from those sitting in a tank is amazing.

Hall's Harbour is a good choice as it is on Bay of Fundy. You will get a glimpse of the tide--high or low. My other favourite spot is Stafford's Lobster Pound in Fox Point on South Shore between Chester and Hubbards. Allow at least an hour to drive to either from Halifax.
