We'd really have to drive slowly for that, cold!
Thanks for all the info, lavendrye. We'll have Friday night, all day and evening Saturday, and much of Sunday. We'll definitely want to go to Byward Market and see the light show at the Parliament Buildings. Beyond that, I dunno, but it seems we have a lot of choice. We're staying at the Delta downtown. It gets good reviews and I got a great price ($135 for night one, $160 for night two, with free wi-fi) and it seems to be within walking distance of everything. Should something much better throw itself in my path, I can always cancel. |

Sometimes you can get a 2-1 on Groupon. |
Sometimes we bike to Aylmer in Gatineau and stop here for a bite and a drink.

hiya, i too am a fan of the lord elgin hotel. it's got a convenient location w/ monuments/ parliament and the museums in one direction and a popular pleasent neighbourhood commercial district walking down elgin towards the natural history museum end.
the natural history museum is quite good. i am no bird watcher, but found the orinthological exhibit fascinating if you want an excursion to the countryside gatineau park for a hike followed by a variety of soaks at spa nordique in old chelsea is a brilliant day cheers AndrewDavid |
I can't remember why I didn't choose the Lord Elgin but I opted for the Delta. The Lord Elgin must have either been more expensive or booked. We'll do it another time.
Thanks, again, y'all! |
How was your trip?

Hi Elizabeth,
Thanks for following up but we ended up not going at all. We'd been at a friend's cottage for a long weekend the weekend before and the idea of getting home, doing laundry and other home stuff and then getting ready to go away again in a couple of days just seemed like too much. I'm hanging on to all the info, though. Now that we've thought of it, a trip to Ottawa is in the cards sometime. |
I was in Ottawa last week with my cousin and his grandson. We went to the Aviation Museum and, on the spur of the moment, took a helicopter ride. I highly recommend it, $225 and worth every penny.
Until the Canada Hall is reopened, I would give History a pass. Mark |
I don't think I'd ever get my SO up in a helicopter, Mark, but I'm sure he'd love the Aviation Museum and it's on the 'must do' list.
