Ottawa motels, any for $50 or so?

I've been trying to find some Ottawa motels online & most of what I'm seeing is several Hotels, B&B's, etc..

Does anyone know of an half decent motels that are around the $50/night or so range? either in Ottawa or Gatineau?

Any info would be great.

John

outside of hostels or a YMCA, i don't think you'll find anything in that price range.

Try Priceline. 2.5* usually comes out at ~US$55, 2* maybe ~US$40.

BBCanada is a good website for B and B's , but that is a VERY low budget for a big city.

There are lots of small b&b's in the Sandy Hill area that are fairly inexpensive, but $50 is really strecthing it. We stayed at the Home Sweet Homeland and it was around $75 a night. This is a quiet residential neighborhood that's within walking distance of the downtown.

I don't know what should be included in the price of a BB for $75 in Ottawa. It is too expensive. Sandy Hill BBs are usually in old houses and not a good quality of service. Staying at the old jail house (Nickolas Street) could be cheaper.

But I would really recommend to try Priceline.com, you can get very good discounts on nice hotels.

I had to go back & check the date on your post...are you serious? There is a nothing...anywhere...for $50/night! Sorry.

Ottawa is small and boring town, so it is logical that there is inexpensive lodging there.

friendlys - your negative attitude towards Ottawa is puzzling. We went there for the first time last summer, and had a great time. No Ottawa is not as exciting as Montreal, but bicycling along the canal and the river was unforgettable, and we had some great meals. The b&b in Sandy Hill was quite nice, and well worth the price. It was run by a gay couple, but my wife and I had no problem with this.

I stayed in Gatineau for 40$ this summer. Wether it was half-decent is debatable but I've seen worse for a lot more money. It was a cheap motel on some large commercial boulevard going towards the airport. I expected some crummy motel with a heart-shaped bed and mirror on the ceiling but it was very clean. Cheap but clean.

friendlys - ottawa is small which makes it very appealing to get around. an entire day can be spent at the parliament grounds and at least 2 more exploring the city.
boring...i certainly didn't think so. as the old saying goes...only boring people get bored!

Ottawa is not boring. Lots to see and do - Parliament - sit in at a session of Question Period; the newly-restored Parliamentary Library, the oldest part of the buildings; the War Museum; the National Gallery, the National Library and Archives; Byward Market - no reason to be bored there.

sounds like something fishy is going on with Friendlys second post as it has nothing to do with the first-perhaps a teenager posted the second one-lol
