Ottawa and Quebec City Restaurants
Can someone recommend good restaurants in Ottawa and/or Quebec City? Open to all different types of cuisine. Looking for something good for the family and maybe one special occasion restaurant.

We went here in Ottawa for my birthday and thought it was great: http://www.savanacafe.com/ It's "special," but in a nice, funky, casual sort of way.
In Quebec City, we ate at Sous le Fort (great food, great service), Cafe du Monde (good view, good food, not good service), Aux Ancienes Canadiens (go for lunch--much better deal price-wise, and the food is heavy), and Il Matto (good Italian food, very sleek and modern restaurant, and much less expensive than you'd expect, based on the surroundings). My very favorite meal was the ravioli at Le Pain Beni, and the service there was excellent, too. We ate lunch (and dinner, too) several times at Pizzette on St. Paul. Good salad and pizza, and not expensive. |
Le cafe du clocher penche on St Joseph street. amazing

Try http://www.ottawarestos.ca next time for Ottawa Restaurants or http://www.restoquebec.ca for Quebec Restaurants. Pretty good sites, I use them all the time.

Another vote for Aux Anciens Canadiens. Their midday special (available until 6pm) is a very good deal and will give you enough food so that you can have a light dinner (or none at all!)

I know this is an old post but just to let you know Savane Cafe is no longer.
