Ontario - Quebec : Help
We are a french couple leaving in Kansas City, KS for the next 10 months.
We are going to Toronto in few days (4th of July) and need advices about where to go and what to see in Canada. We have 5 full days to see as much as possible. We like driving and we love the Nationals Parks much more than the big cities.
What is the best : Quebec City ? Laurentides ? Montreal ? North bay ? Ottawa ? ???????

Have a look at hour last trip in USA at:
http://www.pimico.fr/ab

Thank you very much.
Bruno.
If your starting point in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal are interesting.
But they are cities. We enjoyed a couple of days in Quebec City. The Champs de Bataille (Plains of Abraham to the English forces.) was interesting because of the historical impact.
Just north of the city is Chute Montmorency, which is a gorgeous sight.
There is a bridge that crosses the river right over the falls. It is no place for people who are afraid of heights.
If you prefer the parks, the Laurentides area is pretty. That whole Couer-du-Quebec area is sparsely populated until you get over to the area around ALac Saint-Jean down to Chicoutimi. I don't think you will have time to the Gaspe Peninsula. But both shores of the peninsula are interesting.
If you decide to drive to Quebec, I recommend a B and B: Les Maison du Mesnil on the Ile d'Orleans run by a charming lady named Renee Thibeault.
For us, she was a perfect choice because she speaks English. (But that is not a factor in your case!!) If you go, tell her Bob Brown suggested her establishment. And Restaurant Louis Hebert is a good place to eat. Best scallops I ever ate in my life.

Hello bruno, when you are not into big cities try to drive to the Algonquin Parc, just a 1,5 hour drive north of toronto. There,s only 1 road, going east to west. The rest of the parc can only be seen by kayaking or hiking.
Another suggestion is going to Wonderland, also north of Toronto. In this amusementparc you will spend a whole day.
Try to visit the Mennonites in Kitchener-Waterloo.
Go to Niagara Falls.

Have fun, leo....
Bruno, I like the great outdoors and have travelled a lot in Ontario. Here are some of my favourite parks that are within a 4 hour drive of Toronto:

* Algonquin Provincial Park (great canoeing)
* Bruce Peninsula National Park (great walking along the cliffs)
* 1000 Islands National Park (great boating)
* Frontenac Provincial Park (great hiking)
* Bon Echo Provincial Park (great walking)
* Killarney Provincial Park (great canoeing)

Each of these places will have a web site, but I don't have them handy. If you are camping I would suggest you book as far in advance as possible for
these places.

Some of my favourite drives (with a bias to Eastern Ontario) include:
* the Loyalist Parkway (Highway #33 along Lake Ontario between Kingston and Trenton)
* Highway #41 from Highway #7 to Eganville (big hills and forest)
* Highway #2 (St. Lawrence Parkway) from Kingston to Quebec
* Highway #17 between North Bay and Deep River

If you call 1-800-ONTARIO they can send you a travel package.

Have a great trip. Email me if you want more information.
