One week in Nova Scotia August 2018
We are visiting Nova Scotia in August 2018. We are flying into Halifax on 8/18 and Leaving 8/26. I have a rough itinerary and would appreciate any thoughts on whether this is overly ambitious.
Planning the following: Day 1 - Peggy's Cove and Luneburg staying in or arroundi Lunenburg. Day 2 - Annapolis Royal and staying in Wolfville. Day 3 - Drive to Baddeck to start the Cabot Trail. Stay in Baddeck. Day 4 - Drive the Cabot Trail and stay in Pleasant Bay. Day 5 Drive the Cabot Trail and stay in or near Inginosh Day 6 - Drive to Louisbourg and stay there. Day 7 - Drive to Halifax and stay near airport or city. Day 8 - Head home. |
While very concise, your itinerary doesn't seem in any way wrong or unrealistic.
Maybe visit Burntcoat Head on the (altered) path away from Wolfville. (and perhaps find some spot near to Truro to view the Tidal Bore ) (if timing is suitable) Finally, on the path from Louisbourg back to Halifax, do NOT get cute and afford yourself any Atlantic coastal scenery (particularly after crossing back to the mainland from Cape Breton)... cuz it'll take a YEAR... and it's already a 5 1/2-hour drive. As always, it is wise to print the TIDE TABLE for areas you'll be near, and carry it around in your glove box juuuuuuuust in case. http://bayoffundytourism.com/worlds-...t-tides/times/ Wolfville, and the Truro tidal bore would be helpful, for starters. Since you already know your dates of travel, you can print the table even NOW. |
I love Nova Scotia, enjoy! |
We did a similar trip for 2 weeks in October. We stayed in Baddeck for the whole time on CBI, because it was during Celtic Colours and even months in advance, we couldn't find any place on the other side of the island that suited our needs.
In Cheticamp, Aucoin Bakery has wonderful baguettes and baked goods, they have sandwiches, too. And if you like seafood, my husband had the best chowder ever in Halifax at Fabulous Fredies. It's a neighborhood place not in the downtown area, but worth finding. |
Tidal Bore is a good name for it. Boring it is!
