okanagan or vancouver island
Hi there
We are thinking of 5 days in either Okanagan Valley or VAncouver Island / Salt Spring Island to have a laid back and lazy holiday. Any ideas of cabins or vacation homes to rent where we can cook and barbecue our own food, comfortable and clean? Any suggestions welcome!

You are talking two totally different types of vacation. The Island is beautiful and the weather is much cooler than the Okanagan. The scenery is gorgeous depending on where you go. The Okanagan will be very hot in the summer but there are great lakes and beaches. Also vineyards and orchards.
First decide which you prefer and then get recommendations for accommodations.

Definitely opposite end of the spectrum locations. Vancouver Island has the ocean, the mountains, and the temperate rainforests. Temperates in the summer are warm - in the 20s Celsius, rarely into the 20s, sometimes in the teens.
The Okanagan is practically a desert, the driest and often hottest place in BC. Temperatures often in the high 20s to mid/high 30s, with sagebrush lining the rolling hills - lots of large freshwater lakes, perfect for swimming. Dozens of wineries and vineyards, and fruit orchards.
