O'Hara Lodge
Has anyone stayed at the O'Hara Lodge.
If so, what are the cabins like and the food?
I think you have to take a bus to the lodge, no cars are allowed in.
Thanks

I can answer your last question first.
For most all of us, access to Lake O'Hara Lodge is by bus.

The bus stop is next to a parking lot just to the south of the Trans Canada Highway at the top of Kicking Horse Pass. It is well marked with signs on the main road.

I have tried several times to stay at Lake O'Hara Lodge. In fact I have my name in the hat now for next summer.
I was unsuccessful this summer in even coming up for a telephone call.

I have heard some people say that you go there when you inherit a reservation.

The lodge is exceedingly popular, and well it should be. The scenery is incredible, and hiking trails around the area lead to magical beauty.

I have seen the inside of the cabins, and they look great. But, never having actually been an over night guest, I don't really know.

If you cannot go as a lodge guest, at least take the bus in for a day of wonder.
Dear Bob:

Thank you for your reply, we will try next year end of Sept. for 3 nights and stay at the Post Hotel for the remainder.

Good luck. Apply now.
And hope your name comes out of the hat.
The more flexible you are, the better your chances.

I suppose I should make one slight amendment to my comment about access.
In the winter, I understand that the guests ski in.

In the summer, the bus bumps along a dirt road.
Dear Bob:

I phoned the Lodge and they took my reservation for the last 3 nights in Sept. next year. They said they will write to me in January to let me know if we could get the booking or not. I see what you mean! Also, on their web site , I noticed you can take dog sled to the lodge in winter. I was surprised they have a few families in right now, especially with the high end
rates and promoting tranquility. Thanks again for all your help, they are going to send me a brochure. Joan
