November in LL/Banff/Jasper?
 

Hello -<BR><BR>Has anyone been to Alberta (LL/Banff/Jasper in particular)in November? If so, which were your favorite:<BR><BR>(a) hotels/accommodations;<BR>(b) restaurants;<BR>(c) sights; and<BR>(d) activities.<BR><BR>Thanks!<BR><BR>B<BR><BR>

Although the Rockies are amazing, November is not the best time to visit since days are very short and nights are very long. You may also encounter some snow at that time. I don't have any experience with the hotels but I would suggest staying in Canmore (near Banff) and save a lot of money (good chain hotel I know is the Marriott).<BR><BR>For sights : Banff, Lake Louise, The glacier, Jasper

I was in Alberta late November one year and it was an absolute winter wonderland. Our trip began in Banff then we went to Jasper then back to Lake Louise. I still feel breathless when I think back at the scenery. We purposefully look for mountains and snow for our vacations so that is why we travel in late November. If snow is not what you want to deal with, don't go. We stayed at the Banff Springs Hotel which was absolutely beautiful. We stayed at Chateau Lake Louise which was also awesome. I recommend this trip to everyone I talk to.

november is a sort of "between" month - not yet ski time but past the warm fall days. there will be snow and the mountains are beautiful 12 months a year. regarding the hotel/accommodations...how much are you wanting to spend a night? big difference between recommending sawridge and jasper park lodge. in lake louise, eat at "the station". johnsons's canyon in banff is closing for repairs. not sure when they are re-opening.

Accomodations:<BR>We did a trip of Jasper/LL/Banff this month and stayed in the following places. Both were clean and nice. Staff were also friendly.<BR>Jasper: Home away from Home B&B, find on official canada B&B website<BR>Lake Louise: Paradise Bungalows, may be closed in November<BR><BR>Restaurants:<BR>Jasper: Something Else Restaurant in the town<BR>Lake Louise: The Station, just near the village. Cathedral Mountain Resort Restaurant 20 minutes from LL in direction Field (our favorite restaurant on the whole trip!) Cabins looked nice.<BR><BR>Sights: from Lake Louise<BR>Marble Canyon, Bow Lake and hike to waterfalls, Peyto Lake, Lake Louise-Agnes Lake-teahouse hike. Takakaw falls, Natural Bridge, Spiral Tunnel with train going through, Paint Pots and hike, Emerald Lake, Moraine Lake and hike to falls. We did not spend much time in Banff town as found too touristy. Banff Springs hotel Sunday brunch.<BR><BR>Sights: from Jasper<BR>Columbia Ice fields and hike, Parker Ridge hike, Edith Cavell Glacier and hike, Athabasca Falls,....<BR><BR>We preferred the Jasper area because there were less tourists, but in November I imagine that won't be a problem.<BR>

Hi<BR><BR>Just got back from Banff/Jasper Two days ago.<BR><BR>Thanks!!<BR><BR>Appriciate the recommendation to stay at Canmore. Stayed at the Howard Johnson. New, clean and a great indoor pool/water slide. Cost $140C per night AAA rate incl taxes.<BR><BR>Banff is one large, expensive array of gift shops geared to the Japanese tourists. Canmore or Jasper more our speed! but a great garden at the end of main street.<BR><BR>Hiked to the tea house above Lake Louise for lunch. (7 mi. rt) but it was due to close the 23rd so you'll have to carry your lunch! The Lake Louise Lodge is impressive but EXPENSIVE. $400US minimum off season. <BR><BR>Weather there right now is partly sunny and cool. <BR><BR>Ate several meals at the restaurant North of the HJ Great prime rib for $17C. The restaurant at HJ was closed because of tour use.<BR><BR>Thanks again for the advice <BR><BR>Ron
