Nova Scotia Summer

We are planning a 6-7 week vacation in NS next year (late spring and summer). We plan to camp in each region for up to a week. What we are in need of now is a great guide book and map for getting around. Something that lists campgrounds, attractions, restaurants, birdwatching, wildlife areas and anything else worth visiting. Any ideas and travel tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Rich,
I suggest you go to this site:
http://explore.gov.ns.ca/
It is an official tourist site for Nova Scotia and on it you can get great information. You can also order (free of charge) the "Nova Scotia 2002 Complete Guide for Doers and Dreamers" and the tourist office will send it to you along with a good map of nova scotia.
Have fun.

In Pictou County there is a campground called the D&B. It has a wonderful beach with white sand. Most campers are full-timers. Laundry facilites, etc. available.

My best advice, go out and play in the water. Mahone bay, for example, has 365 islands with great private beaches, and crystal clear waters. The Marina at the Oak Island Resort and Spa offers boat tours and island picnic packages at very affordable prices. You can also do some kayaking, snorkling, diving, fishing, cycling and even shark fishing! The water is the warmest in August, but with a wet suit it's always fine. Enjoy Nova Scotia, a great place!
