Nova Scotia in two weeeks
I would like to know if anyone has information regarding Riding the Tidal Bores in Truro..a worthwhile venture?? Suggestions on accomodations in Pictou or area? I plan on being in that area for two nights and then move on to the Cabot trail area for two nights. I only am allowing one day for Halifax and area..is that enough?

What type of accommodations are you seeking in Pictou? B&B, cottage, etc.? Price range?
Depending on what activities you like would help in providing further information on where to concentrate your stay.

Must dispute the opinion that the Tidal Bore is a bore. I took my 15 year old nephew on this rafting trip and he had a blast, and so did I. It just doesn't compare with watching the bore from a distance.
However, you need to go at a time when the tides are scheduled to be high (check with one of the operators to help plan your dates.) You will see bald eagles' nests, on your way down river. The return trip is wild as you plunge upriver in the raft through the whirlpools created by the tide surging upstream.
If you have the Doers and Dreamers guide, it can help as well.
If Antigonish Harbour is close enough to Pictou for you, I can recommend Pat's Bed and Breakfast. http://www.bbcanada.com/2266.html

Thanks to all who replied. The tide schedule has the tides in the middle of the spectrum on the day planned for this. Am I right that it might not be the best experience? We are a family of five for accomodations..any recommendation would be welcomed. I do have the Doers guide.

If you can rent the house from the Telegraph Inn I would highly recommend it. It is 3 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom. Use Baddeck as your centre point. You can easily do the trail in a day from there. Baddeck has more to offer than most places.
In Pictou area you could rent a cabin from Harbourside Cottages. It has a large pool and is close to Melmerby Beach.
