Nova Scotia Honeymoon

Well, having decided to spend a week long honeymoon trip in NS, I need to decide, after spending two days seeing Halifax, what is the best route to take from there? The lighthouse route, the Marine drive, or to thd Annapolis Valley? They all look so nice on websites, its hard to choose. Any input/insights from people who have been is much appreciated.

Have you considering the drive to Cape Brenton and the Cabot Trail? It was one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. We stayed in Inverness at a small inn with a great restaurant and drove around the Cabot Trail. It is a little more driving than what you mentioned but the scenery is unbelievable. A boat ride on Bra d'Or Lake is a great experience too.

Oops...I just saw your 1st post. We did our trip in one week and did not feel like we were in the car the whole time. We find the driving in Canada is quite pleasant compared to our part of the States.

Have a good trip what ever you decide.

We took ViaRail's "Bra D'Or tourist train from Halifax to Sydney. It runs mid-week and takes about 8 hours. It is a luxury tourist train with old style dome and lounge cars and includes entertainment and food. You move very slowly and get to see some nice scenery and mix with other tourists. We then stayed at Gowrie House, one of the top rated historic Inns, in Sydney Mines. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms big and comfortable and the owners also offer a gourmet dinner. From there, you are at the entrance to Cape Breton. ViaRail offers a special deal on rental cars if you take the one-way train ride. You can return the car to Halifax.

Thanks hvsteve1. I saw the website on the Bras D'or and it looked very interesting and the timing fit well with our ininerary. However, it was very expensive (close to 300 bucks each one way). Seeing as how it is our honeymoon I dont mind paying, but is it really worth the price? Thanks.
